CPUSA Labor Commission Open National Call
Monday, Aug. 22nd, 2016 at 8pm EDT

“Working people for Trump? Why?”

As polls and anecdotal evidence indicates that the majority of working class citizens in the U.S. are moving to the left on economic issues and find the notion of socialism much more acceptable than it has been in decades, many of us in leadership positions in progressive organizations are asking why many of our members are attracted to the candidacy of Donald Trump?

Why is his message resonating with many of our members and our message is failing to convince these individuals that Donald Trump is the wrong choice for addressing the economic inequality in our nation, much less the numerous other social justice issues that we are facing?

Join Curator’s Professor and Chair of the Political Science Department and Co-chair of the Labor Studies Program at the University of Missouri St. Louis, David Robertson, who will discuss this issue with us.

Dave Robertson is Curator’s Professor of Political Science at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. He writes and teaches about U.S. politics, policy and political history, political economy, environmental policy, and labor. He has written or edited seven books and numerous articles. He is a co-leader of Confluence Scholars’ Strategy Network. He is the political analyst for KSDK Television (NBC) and is frequently quoted in electronic and print media.

PLEASE INVITE OTHERS TO THIS EVENT!
