Nosotros tenemos que entender que es coloniaje es un crimen en contra de la humanidad según la Organización de Naciones Unidas (ONU), porque es una amenaza a la paz mundial.
Luego, tenemos que entender que la ONU ha emitido hasta la fecha 35 resoluciones pidiéndole al gobierno de Estados Unidos EEUU que descolonice inmediatamente a Puerto Rico. Es importante destacar que EEUU las ha ignorados. ¿Por qué? Para entender eso, tenemos que ir para atrás para aprender, ¿cómo el gobierno de Estados Unidos logró hacernos colonia?
Después que el gobierno de EEUU le arrebató a España sus 4 colonias en 1898, EEUU clasificó a todos sus habitantes como razas inferiores. Dicho gobierno por legislación decretó que Puerto Rico será su colonia para siempre. Esta legislación ha sido su justificación para negarle a Puerto Rico su derecho inalienable a la autodeterminación e independencia garantizado por la ley internacional. Así es que EEUU ha ignorado las resoluciones de la ONU.
Tan pronto un tsunami de gente se dé cuenta que el gobierno de Estados Unidos nos está violando nuestro derecho a la autodeterminación, podríamos protestar pacífica y frecuentemente hasta que logremos nuestra descolonización.
Alunas gente se preguntan, ¿Cómo podrá Puerto Rico existir sin EEUU? Ellos desconocen, ¿para, qué son las colonias? ¿Por qué Puerto Rico ha sido una colonia por más de 500 años? Lo ha sido, porque para España fue un gran negocio por 405 años, y también para EEUU por 119 años. Pero, bajo un Puerto Rico independiente, la riqueza sería para los puertorriqueños. Jamás estaríamos obligados a abandonar nuestra patria por no haber las oportunidades para nosotros aquí.
Tendríamos obviamente que discutir entre nosotros los pormenores sobre la forma de gobierno que queremos. Aunque suene fácil, será difícil hacer que gente vea esta realidad después de estar sometido a un lavado sistemático de cerebros por más de 500 años. ¡Pero, tenemos que empezar algún día, y este día es tan bueno como cualquier otro!

We must first understand that colonialism is a crime against humanity according to the United Nations (UN), because it is considered a threat to world peace.
Then, we must understand that the UN has thus far issued 35 resolutions asking the United States (US) government to immediately decolonize Puerto Rico. It is important to note that the US has ignored these resolutions. Why? To understand that, we have to go back in history to learn how the US government made us its colony.
After the US government decided to take Spain’s 4 colonies away from her, it decided that they were all populated by inferior races. The US government decided through legislation that Puerto Rico would its colony forever. This has been the US government’s justification for denying Puerto Rico her inalienable rights to self-determination and independence guaranteed by international law. And, that’s why the US has ignored the UN’s resolutions.
Once a tsunami of people realizes that the US government is illegally maintaining Puerto Rico colonized, we could protest peaceful and frequently until we achieve our independence.
Some people worry how Puerto Rico could survive on her own? They do not understand what colonies are for. Why has Puerto Rico been a colony for over 500 years? She has, because she has been a great business for Spain for 405 years, and for the US for 119 years. But, under an independent Puerto Rico, the wealth will finally be for the Puerto Ricans. We will no longer be forced to leave our homeland, because of the lack of opportunities for us right here.
We will of course have to discuss all the particulars amongst ourselves to decide what kind of government we want. Although it may sound simple, it will be the difficult to get people to see this reality after being for over 500 years under the influence of systematic brainwashing. But, we have to start sometime, and today is as good a day as ever!
