The struggle for Isla Verde’s Beach is at a crucial moment and the Puerto Rican Peoples need everyone’s support.
At this time the municipality of Carolina appealed the judge’s decision in which he decided that the Marriott hotel does not have the authority to evict citizens from a public place. The municipality of Carolina DOES NOT want to evict the resistance camp that Playas Pal Pueblo (Beaches for the Peoples ) has held for almost 11years. They do not want the political repercussions. They want Marriott to be the ones to do it. The judge rejected the appeal and determined that the municipality of Carolina must utilize all legal resources to obtain the eviction order.
It is expected that the municipality of Carolina will appeal this decision in Superior Court.
It is the Marriott who had the interest, and who as a private corporation wants to extract multi millionaire gains from what is public property of the Puerto Rican Peoples.

In Puerto Rico there is support on this struggle, which include: Amigos del Mar (Friends of the Sea), Arrecifes Pro-Ciudad (Reefs Pro-City ), Toabajeños en Defensa del Ambiente (Toabajeños in Defense of the Environment ), Coalición Playas para todos (Beaches for All Coalition ), Federación Central de Trabajadores (Central Federation of Workers), Comité contra Incineración (Committee against Incineration ), MINH Carolina, MUS, PIP (Puerto Rican Independent Party ), PPT, Guardamar, among many others.
We are asking that you organize protests at Marriott wherever possible during the Christmas Holiday Season, when there are so many events at their hotels. You need to carry banners, etc. Demanding Marriott desist from stealing beaches from the Puerto Rican Peoples.
The Puerto Rican Parade Committee holds their banquet at the Marriott every year. It is necessary that the members of the Parade’s Committee lobby to put pressure to the hotel in support of Playas Pal Pueblo.
We need an airline ticket, accommodations and to cover expenses for a member of Playas Pal Pueblo to go to NY.
